Miriam was born and raised in Dublin and got into acting during her teen years, before completing the exclusive Drama and Theatre Studies degree in Trinity College Dublin.
We talk about her journey into acting, and about the many challenges that women face in that industry.
Miriam is currently completing a Masters in Screenwriting in Dun Laoghaire IADT, having won a Warner Brothers scholarship which enabled her to join the course.
In addition to her studies, she is mother to a young daughter (and 2 cats, which you’ll hear in the episode!) and co-owns and runs SuperHands, Ireland’s number one provider of baby signing classes and products.
Near the end of our chat, Miriam also talks about how, when she was only 11, her mother died and explains that it took her until her twenties to seek out the help she needed to be able to process her feelings and to prepare her for being a parent herself.
This is a great episode if you’re interested in acting or writing, are a parent / guardian yourself, or, of course, just enjoy meeting lovely and interesting Dubliners.
